Obama/Biden/Bush/Cheney: Same strategy, different election

Posted by Jesse on December 30, 2008

Biden: Progressive Internationalism: A Democratic National Security Strategy is a clear alternative to “the neoconservative right and the non-interventionist left.”

  1. [Promote] Franklin Roosevelt’s pledge to make America the “arsenal of democracy”
  2. America should use its unparalleled power to defend our country and to shape a world
  3. We favor vibrant, entrepreneurial markets, open trade, and active governance to ensure honest competition.
  4. U.S. leadership is integral to shaping a world congenial to our interests and values……strengthening and reforming international institutions — the United Nations, the international financial institutions, the World Trade Organization

Project for the New American Century is a non-profit, educational organization whose goal is to promote American global leadership.

We aim to make the case and rally support for American global leadership

• we need to increase defense spending significantly if we are to carry out our global responsibilities today and modernize our armed forces for the future;
• we need to strengthen our ties to democratic allies and to challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values;
• we need to promote the cause of political and economic freedom abroad;
• we need to accept responsibility for America’s unique role in preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security, our prosperity, and our principles.

War Made Easy w/Norman Soloman

Awesome speech by Steven Kinzer: “Thomas Jefferson is the author of the phrase that I take as my guiding principle…. I don’t consider myself a polemicist, or an ideologue, or a Bush-basher.I am reality-based. I am fact based. I like to deal with whats real, not visionary fantasies of utopia. It says: “Let facts be submitted to a candid world.”

Anthony Gregory: “Seriously this is disgusting practice. And it’s become a talking point. In the Republican Debates you get applause in proportion to how much you praise and promote torture. This is a terrible development in our culture. It’s very corrupting in every way….But bad as all this is…Where  war and empire really attack the individual is in the war itself.

Important!! Let the Obama admin know that Gates needs to go! Of course, the nation needs to be wary of who will replace the man, but we know there is some hope! Or maybe not.

And back to the Program–Here’ s some audio news regarding the Interventionist Left, the Pakistanis, and yet another idea on government reform.

1) First and foremost: Eric Margolis on the Taliban, Pakistan, destabilization, and nukes. [MP3 here]

2) For a look at what the Nation can expect from the Left now that they have gained even more seats in the halls of the US’s Imperial State, have listen to Justin Raimondo. Learn why Obama is a dangerous man and the democrats are no different than the Republicans in so far as the big issues of the day. “It’s about continuity.” [MP3 here]

[An in-depth look at neocons here.]

3) And finally, the latest from the famed Rockwell Podcasts. Dr Mark Thornton discusses the libertarian case for growing government, the checks of power in a republican form of government, and the History behind this position. For a little political sanity, listen to this podcast.

Dr Thornton was also interviewed by Scott Horton and they discussed the causes of the housing bubble and how it’s a big big scam.

Iran Nuke Laptop Data Came from Terror Group
by Gareth Porter

The George W. Bush administration has long pushed the “laptop documents” – 1,000 pages of technical documents supposedly from a stolen Iranian laptop – as hard evidence of Iranian intentions to build a nuclear weapon. Now charges based on those documents pose the only remaining obstacles to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) declaring that Iran has resolved all unanswered questions about its nuclear program.

But those documents have long been regarded with great suspicion by US and foreign analysts. German officials have identified the source of the laptop documents in November 2004 as the Mujahideen e Khalq (MEK), which along with its political arm, the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), is listed by the US State Department as a terrorist organization.

There are some indications, moreover, that the MEK obtained the documents not from an Iranian source but from Israel’s Mossad.
